The joy that comes with buying your dream home is like the arrival of a newborn to the family. But sometimes that joy turns to frustration when your home fails to meet your needs.
We will be looking at five important criteria you must consider before buying a house.
Number 3 is the most important while number 5 is the most overlooked. These are things most real estate agents neglect.
1) Location
Every person in real estate knows the importance of location when it comes to real estate. We would like to clarify how that affects you.
Proximity to amenities such as schools, hospitals, resorts, malls, Banks, etc. are important. These amenities play a major role in our daily lives and in times of emergency.
Imagine if a loved one has an accident and needs urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, you live in an environment with no hospital nearby, imagine how that would play out. this shows how important these amenities are.
Depending on who you are and your preferences, amenities you make use of should be close by. If you are a bodybuilder or you are big on fitness when buying a property it will be an added bonus if it’s close to a gym.
2) Good Road Network
Have you ever thought of visiting a friend but later got discouraged because of bad road? Exactly! so you already have an idea of the importance of a good road network.
Nothing is as frustrating as a bad road. Here are some tips to look out for
- Are the roads motorable?
- Are the roads prone to flooding during rainfall?
- Are the roads free from mud and waterlogging?
- Do the roads have a good drainage system?
This would make your trips convenient and save you time
3) Security of the neighborhood and Property
This is the most important criterion. The safety of the lives of our loved ones and valuables should be our top priority.
There are two aspects to Security
- The first is the security of the property, things like ensuring security cameras and the fencing, the doors, and the gates.
- The second is the security of the neighborhood, this entails the crime rate, living conditions, and the lifestyle of the people living in the area.
The lifestyle of the people living in an area contributes majorly to the level of security in that area.
4) Provision of electricity
Electrical power is one of the basic needs in every home. With the continuous increase in the price of fuel and other sources of energy.
Properties located within areas with a stable and constant supply reduces electricity cost. The alternative which is fuel or diesel all year round is usually very expensive.
5) Network Availability.
In this digital age, having a poor network connection is the most frustrating and annoying blowback from buying a new home.
As crucial as it is, it’s still the most neglected criterion when buying a property. Customers and real estate agents overlook it. Yet the internet and our phones are indispensable.
Believe me, you don’t want to be that person who couldn’t attend an important interview or missed an important call due to poor network.
So, the next time you go property sourcing always remember, NETWORK AVAILABILITY. Always check the network and internet connection before buying the property.
